Every year, kids across Edmonton participate in Kids in Action! - a free program where students train all year to run in a five kilometre race. At this five kilometre race, students are paired with an adult, who runs with them and encourages them to keep going. In 2017, I was tasked with turning this event into a fundraiser.
I worked to create clarity about this change across different departments. I created all fundraising communications, including the runner ask - donate $33 to help a child experience race day, or donate $396 to help a child experience Kids in Action all year long.
Working on a Wordpress web platform, I designed a race specific website, with all design collateral. You can view an archived version of that website here. Working on CanadaHelps, I developed a peer to peer campaign site, where donations would be processed and runners would be able to sign up. You can view that closed website here.
I helped to keep momentum up by sharing stories and profiles on the website of why people ran. I also created race specific graphics to help share the story, and emailed fundraisers with fundraising specific instructions.
On the day before and the day of the event, I helped with logistics and fundraising reconciliation.
This event had 43 active fundraisers, out of over 160 participants, and raised $8602.
